The Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Association shares the sorrow of the Australian community with the death of Professor Peter Cullen.
Professor Cullen was recognised as one of Australia’s great scientific minds. His promotion of public debate on land and water management was crucial to the community’s understanding of the challenges Australia faces in its use of water.
He was the inaugural and long term CEO of the CRC for Freshwater Ecology and in this role he made an outstanding contribution to our understanding of the sustainable management of surface water. Today this work continues through the activities of the eWater CRC. Professor Cullen was a strong supporter of the CRC Program and will be missed by the CRC community.
Dr Steve Rogers CEO CRC LEME stated that “Peter was a great inspiration to many scientists involved in environmental management issues and the problems facing the nation in balancing the human and ecological requirements for Australia’s scarce water resources. He was a great mentor to many of the younger scientists of my generation”.
The CRC community expresses its condolences to Professor Cullen’s family.
